I have
been involved in identifying and rectifying damp problems in buildings
for over 25 years. During this time there have been many changes to the
structural design and development of buildings especially the modernization
of homes.
These changes for the most part have been of vast benefit to
the occupants, but as always there has to be some downfall.
It is the
downfall that has been of most interest to me and it is the down fall
that I have pursued with the intention of making improvement.
The most
common of all damp problems is CONDENSATION although it is often identified
wrongly as Rising or penetrating damp.
CONDENSATION and the additional
problems incurred by CONDENSATION that has recently been identified as
a major health hazard.
BLACK SPOT MOULD which often accompanies condensation
has recently been linked to serious health problems.
There have been suspected links from Black Spot Mould to asphma, Bronchitis, cot death and Hardening of Arteries. Although not one of these has been proved the risk of contamination will still exist. .
